01.01: Welcome to 2010! We ushered in the new year quietly with a fun day at home together. We had a belated Smith Family Christmas celebration at Danny and Mary Sue’s with lots of great food, presents, and time together. We made some resolutions individually and as a family and so far, so good on most of them!
01.03: We truly cannot be more elated to move to the 9:00 AM church block! Thanks to early morning meetings, we will now have the afternoons and evenings together and the younger two can have nap time. We’ll be a happier family this year! Elizabeth and I attended a stake fireside for our youth, watching the Brand New Year DVD.
01.04: I’m excited for a new year at work, hoping the economy will help our efforts this year. I’ve now been in my position a full year and am looking forward to making things happen.
01.07: Elizabeth attended the monthly Relief Society meeting. Kadence’s preschool class started up again, something she loves each Thursday afternoon.
01.08: Went with the bishopric to do sealings.
01.14: Round table and bishopric visits.
01.16: Elizabeth has Saturday morning Zumba classes with her sister Kara and has had church basketball each weekend. Makes for an active day! She does really well during the games, scoring 18 points in one of them. Yep, that’s my wife!
01.17: Last of our start of the year meetings with each quorum and auxiliary. Baptism preview in the evening.
01.18: Enjoyed MLK Jr. Day together at home and the Smith Family birthday party in the afternoon. Always great to see you all. Thank you Grandpa and Grandma for this fun annual tradition!
01.22: Went out to dinner at the California Pizza Kitchen. We all enjoyed that!
01.23: We loved having our family down to our house for the January dinner celebrating Elayna’s birthday.
01.24: Elizabeth and I have really enjoyed participating in choir, which was inconsistent in 2009. Nothing like music!
01.26: Elizabeth helped plan a very successful New Beginnings night for our young women. We enjoyed the program. Had my PPI with the stake presidency.
01.27: Attended a luncheon that discussed social media and how it can affect fundraising. We’re excited as we explore ways to use things like Facebook and YouTube in our efforts.
01.28: Went up to LDSBC to help with their thankathon calling.
01.29: Went to the girls’ favorite place, Red Robin, for dinner.
01.30: In addition to Zumba and he basketball games, Elizabeth has also been helping coach the Young Women. We had a nice date night, going shopping, eating dinner at PF Chang’s, and just spending time together.
01.31: Elizabeth and I helped teach the fifth Sunday lesson to our youth, talking about missionary work. It was fun for us to reflect on our missions and I especially loved hearing Elizabeth’s fun stories.
Stockton continues to amaze us with utter cuteness. He is such a good baby and only cries when he is hungry or overly tired. He still gets up once or twice each night, but takes fairly good naps during the day. He loves smiling and laughing and watching his sisters and parents. He is sure loved—cutest baby in the world!
Tayah is so much fun. She is so full of life and really lives it up. She and Kadence are tied at the hip most of each day, but each likes to have some alone time reading or coloring. She shows her red-headedness a few times each day…deep breaths!
Kadence is such a good sister. She loves doting over Stockton and “teaching” new things to Tayah. She can be very determined and will spend an hour at time writing letters, reading, or drawing pictures. She and Tayah enjoyed a few nicer days riding on their new scooters. Both girls fill the house with music and dancing. We love our kids so much
Elizabeth had a bye month teaching the Laurels, but manages to stay busy with the activities (as you can see). She is an amazing mother and wife! And I’m just me…nothing more to say than that. Have a great February!
